Required: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, along with at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a career fire service organization, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or command-level leadership role.Preferred: A master's degree in Fire Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Emergency Management, or a related field is preferred. Highly desirable qualifications include possession of the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation through the Commission on Professional Credentialing, completion of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Program, designation as a Kansas Certified Emergency Manager, and demonstrated executive-level experience leading organizational change, strategic initiatives, succession planning, accreditation efforts, and community risk reduction initiatives

The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking a Fire Chief for Iowa's second-largest city, a vibrant community of roughly 139,000 residents located in eastern Iowa along the Cedar River. Positioned in the heart of the Cedar Rapids–Iowa City corridor, the city serves as the economic and cultural center for the region. The City spans 72 square miles and operates with a 2027 total budget of $928 million, a General Fund of $179 million, and staffing of over 1,300 people. Incorporated in 1849, the City of Cedar Rapids operates under a Council-Manager form of government.
THE CEDAR RAPIDS FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Cedar Rapids Fire Department (CRFD) has proudly served the residents, businesses, and visitors of Cedar Rapids since 1869. CRFD is an all-hazards department comprised of 149 full-time personnel responding from nine stations. The Department operates with an annual budget of $26 million and is headquartered in a 67,140-square-foot Central Fire Station built in 2013. In 2025, CRFD responded to 16,310 calls for service.
Operations include primary fire protection and response, non-transport paramedic-level emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, water and ice rescue, confined space rescue, low- and high-angle rope rescue, trench rescue, and urban search and rescue capabilities. All personnel are certified at a minimum EMT level, and 63 personnel are certified paramedics.

The Estes Valley Fire Protection District is seeking a Fire Chief for this scenic mountain community located about 70 miles northwest of Denver at the eastern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. THE ESTES VALLEY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
The Estes Valley Fire Protection District (EVFPD) is a combination fire department providing fire protection and emergency services to approximately 12,000 year-round residents across 77 square miles in the town of Estes Park, unincorporated areas of Larimer County, and portions of Rocky Mountain National Park. As a premier tourist destination, the valley experiences seasonal population surges to more than 50,000 during peak months.
Volunteer firefighters have proudly protected the Estes Valley for over 100 years. Originally founded as an all-volunteer department in 1907, EVFPD became a special district in 2009 and is governed by a fivemember Board of Directors. With a 2026 budget of $3.1 million, the District operates two stations and responds to roughly 800 calls annually. Staffing includes 10 budgeted full-time positions and approximately 45 volunteer firefighters and auxiliary members. The District is also a regional training leader and proudly hosts the Estes Valley Regional Fire Academy. Emergency medical services are provided by Estes Park Health (UCHealth).

CFD#1 serves an unincorporated area of 228 sq. miles with a population of approximately 11,000 and provides an all-hazards fire and EMS response with 6 full-time, 3 part-time, and over 60 paid-per-call members with a volume of over 1,100 calls per year and an average growth of 7%. Required Qualifications:
